Peer Review Process

The peer review process at The Cartograph: An Interdisciplinary International Journal of Literature, Sustainability, and Culture is critical to maintaining the integrity of our published research. Providing a fair, respectful, and serious evaluation of the author’s work will help uphold the level of quality and credibility that we would like to achieve through this journal's published work.

1. Initial Screening

Once a manuscript is submitted, it undergoes an initial review by the editorial team. At this stage, we check:

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope
  • Basic structure and clarity
  • Originality and adherence to ethical standards

Manuscripts that meet these criteria are moved forward for peer review.

2. Double-Blind Review

We follow a double-blind peer review process, where:

  • The identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential
  • Reviewers evaluate the manuscript independently
  • The focus remains on the quality and merit of the research

This approach helps maintain objectivity and fairness throughout the evaluation.

3. Reviewer Evaluation

Each manuscript is reviewed by qualified experts in the relevant field. Reviewers assess the paper based on:

  • Originality and contribution to the field
  • Relevance to interdisciplinary research
  • Clarity of arguments and structure
  • Methodology and analysis (where applicable)
  • Use of references and academic rigor

Constructive feedback is provided to help improve the manuscript.

4. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ comments, the editorial team makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept as it is
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Revise and resubmit
  • Reject

Authors are informed of the decision along with detailed feedback.

5. Revision Process

If revisions are required:

  • Authors are given time to address reviewer comments
  • A revised version of the manuscript must be submitted with changes clearly incorporated
  • In some cases, the revised manuscript may be sent for re-evaluation

This step ensures that the final publication meets the journal’s standards.

6. Final Acceptance

Once the manuscript meets all requirements:

  • A formal acceptance letter is issued
  • The paper proceeds to editing, formatting, and publication

7. Ethical and Transparent Review

We are committed to:

  • Maintaining confidentiality throughout the review process
  • Ensuring unbiased and fair evaluation
  • Providing constructive and respectful feedback
  • Upholding academic integrity at every stage
